 ABOUT ScottOnSax:

ScottOnSax is the musical moniker for Scott Birdwell playing his saxophone. Having played clarinet in grade schools, it wasn't until college where he was able to secure a cheap tenor sax and cut his eye teeth playing with bar bands.

Since then, he has developed a repertoire of instrumental favorites that coupled with accompaniment of a steller back up band on his laptop computer, provides a one man band for your enjoyment and listening pleasure.

Somehow the bills have to be paid, and a scant musical gigs, mostly free, just will not a living make. Scott has a technical background in systems engineering to support television broadcasting. His professional career spans those three letter networks like CBS, PBS, NBC and ION, with successful new technology projects from various esoteric digital signal manipulation to satellite transmisssion.

Now in the current state of semi retirement, more time for music, solo gigs and playing with a rock band, work around the house as a house husband, and looking for wet opportunities.

Besides music, the passion for being on the water, harnessing the wind for propulsion, and adventure on the high seas, is the driving force for seeking the solice of sailing on trimarans.

Enjoy this blog journal for the sailing vessal, s/v, Embouchure. By now maybe you have realised the play on the French word with this boat's name.

  Trimarans

First became acquainted with trimaran sailing boats in the late 70s  while on a trip to Miami, riding converted Hobie 16 beach cat hulls that were added to a crafted center hull. Later discovered the rich history of multi-hulls and design from the writings of Jim Brown, Chris White and others.

This blog is will chronicle explicita, past exploits of discovery, sailing nuances and characteristics, plus after market modifications, and sailing adventures on the Astus 20.2 XL model named "Embouchure".
